We are deeply grateful to have the support of friends like you, whose fundraising efforts are making a real difference for those facing cancer in the Mountain West and beyond. To assist you in creating your fundraiser, we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions.

Can my gift be in honor or memory of someone?

Absolutely, you will be asked for this information when you register.

Can I designate my funds towards a certain type of cancer?

Yes. When you are registering for your DIY page, you will select the type of cancer you'd like your funds to be designated during the registration process. If you are already registered, and forgot to select this, contact us at [email protected] and we can get that selected for you.

The type of research and/or research lab that I want to fundraise for is not listed as an option when I register. Can I specify this information?

Please email [email protected] and we can help make these arrangements.

Are gifts made through my fundraising page tax deductible?

Yes, 100%.

If I am collecting auction items for my event, can Huntsman Cancer Foundation (HCF) give those donating a tax receipt for their donation made through my fundraiser?

No. Although 100% of all monetary donations made to HCF through our website are tax deductible, IRS tax laws do not allow us to issue charitable tax receipts for donors who make donations (cash or in-kind) to a third-party group on our behalf. 

HCF can provide you with an introduction letter to let donors know that their in-kind donations will be going to support cancer patients at Huntsman Cancer Institute. In most instances, the letter of introduction has been enough for most companies to feel reassured that the items are going to support patients.

Can I mail in checks to get applied to my fundraising page?

Please make sure that your name and/or event page name is included with the check so we can ensure to get this applied towards your goal.

How does my donor get a tax receipt?

Your donor(s) will receive an emailed receipt at the time of their gift, if online. All checks received will receive a mailed tax receipt.

How do I arrange a check presentation?

We'd love to have you do a check presentation! To schedule a date and time, contact us at [email protected] or give us a call at 801-584-5815.

If I want to use the Huntsman Cancer Foundation/Huntsman Cancer Institute logo, do I need to get permission?

Yes, we can send you a high resolution logo for your use in print and online materials, but will need to approve its use before going to print or live. Please give us 2-3 business days to respond with approval.
