In Memory of Terrie Richardson

Hi everyone, thank you so much for visiting the fundraising page for Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI).

We are raising money in honor of Terrie Thacker Richardson who passed away peacefully in her home on September 10, 2025, at the age of 78, after a courageous battle with multiple cancers.

Our mission is to raise much-needed funds for cancer research at HCI, with the ultimate goal of eradicating cancer so no other families have to experience this loss. We have specifically allocated that all donations will be used to fund research for uterine cancer.

We have all been touched by cancer, and we are making the commitment to bring hope to patients and their families.

Please consider helping us reach our goal by donating to this page – 100% of every donation is being used to fuel research at HCI. Because of you others can continue to have hope in their fight against cancer.

About Terrie Richardson

Terrie Thacker Richardson passed away peacefully in her home on September 10, 2025, at the age of 78, after a courageous battle with multiple cancers.

Terrie was born on October 25, 1946, in Boise, Idaho, to Edwin Wright Thacker and June Marie Esklund Thacker. She was raised on a farm in Taylorsville, Utah, with her four siblings: Bonnie, Gary, Robert and Ted. Terrie often told stories about taking care of the animals as well as attempting to take in many strays, including cats and mice. She graduated from Granger High School in 1965, where she was a school cheerleader and formed lifelong friendships.

She spent her young adult years cruising around in her 1964 Porsche 356, worked as a ski patroller and spent a summer traveling around Europe.

Terrie met Carl Richardson in 1973 at a student ward at the University of Utah. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on December 6, 1974. After they were married, Terrie and Carl moved to Sugar House and then later to Bountiful, Utah, where they made their home. Carl and Terrie were blessed to welcome four children into their lives: Lindsey, Jeff, Raegan and Carley.

Terrie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She cherished every moment spent with her family. Some of her favorite moments were sitting around telling stories and cracking jokes, especially with her siblings. The two of them were often found sitting together laughing.

She enjoyed gardening, and her pride and joy was her yard. She would spend hours perusing nurseries, planting flowers and weeding in her flower beds. She even received her Master Gardener's Certification from Utah State University’s Extension program in 2006.

Terrie was known for her cooking and baking. She gathered her family almost every Sunday for dinner. She loved hosting for the holidays and made her Thanksgiving dinner completely from scratch, including homemade bread for the stuffing, which had to be made days in advance. However, her most beloved holiday was Christmas. She loved decorating her house and took a lot of pride in decorating her Christmas tree each year.

Terrie was also a phenomenal seamstress, making many clothes for herself and her family, including her own wedding dress. She handmade all of her children's clothes when they were young and made many shirts for her husband. She also sewed her daughters’ prom dresses as well as all of her children's — and many grandchildren's — Halloween costumes. Terrie also enjoyed knitting, quilting and other crafting projects.

Terrie was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had many callings throughout her life, including serving in her ward’s primary presidency, young women’s president, stake young women’s presidency, and Relief Society.

Terrie is survived by her husband, Carl, and their children: Lindsey (Justin) Bailey, Jeff (Diana) Richardson, Raegan (Nate) Parker, and Carley (Michelle) Richardson; 12 grandchildren; her siblings Bonnie Price, Gary (Vicki) Thacker and Ted “Teddy” (Glenna) Thacker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and June Thacker, her brother Robert Thacker, brother-in-law Tom Price and nephew Eric Thacker.
