What is the OUTCLIMB CANCER CHALLENGE?
The OutClimb Cancer Challenge is a thrilling 24-story stair climb to the top floor of the Wells Fargo Center that will take place on Saturday, March 2, 2019. It's a test of speed (a chip-timed event) and endurance (total number of climbs to the top). This unique experience is completely a philanthropic endeavor organized by volunteers for the benefit of the Huntsman Cancer Foundation. 100% of the funds raised above event costs will go to research at the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
How Do I register?
To register, please go to the “Register” at the top of this page and sign up as an individual climber or if you have some friends and family that want to join in, create a team. You will go through the registration process that includes reading and accepting the liability waiver, providing your contact info and t-shirt size, and creating a fundraising page (we are asking you to do your very best to meet the minimum fundraising goal of $100 all of which goes to Huntsman Cancer Foundation). Then finish the registration process by paying the registration fee (i.e., the cost of the event; building, insurance, timing, t-shirts, medals).
Is there a minimum age to participate?
There is not an age limit for participants. However, parents must consent to the event waiver for participants under 18 and children under 12 must climb with an adult.
How do my donations help?
100% of the funds raised above the registration fee (which covers event costs) for the OutClimb Cancer Challenge will go to fund extremely important research that will help eradicate cancer for good. The Huntsman Cancer Institute has had breakthrough discoveries in genes responsible for such cancers as breast cancer, colon cancer, melanoma, head and neck cancers, and thyroid cancer.

What time does the climb start?
The OutClimb Cancer Challenge will go from 6:00 am to noon; however, the start times are staggered. Your start time will be assigned on the week of the Climb and it will depend on how many climbs you will be making. For example, Climbers going for 30 or more climbs will start at 6:00 am. If you plan to climb the Wells Fargo Center 5 or more times, please e-mail email@example.com to let us know how many climbs you are planning to make.
What time should I be there?
Approximately 30 minutes before your scheduled start time.
Will there Be A Gear Check?
Yes, volunteers will be working a gear check in a designated area of the lobby of the Wells Fargo Center.
Where should I park?
Parking is free for the event in the Wells Fargo Center parking garage. The parking entrance is located on the north side of 300 South between Main Street and State Street. Public transportation is convenient (the Gallivan Plaza UTA Trax station is located in front of the Wells Fargo Center) and encouraged.
What do I bring with me on the day of the event?
Please bring a bottle of water or your favorite sports drink (hydration is very important), any specific snacks you take while exercising (e.g., energy gels), and fundraising dollars you have collected, but have not yet turned in.
Can my friends and family be at the finish line?
Friends and family are welcome to attend and support. There is plenty of room in the lobby and at the start line on Main Street. Due to lack of space on the 23rd and 24th floors (the finish line area) it’s not always possible for supporters to see you finish. It truly depends on how crowded the top floors are when you will be finishing and it is best efforts by our wonderful volunteer staff to get your friends and family to the finish line. The best way for friends and family to see you finish is to have them join in on the fun by registering as a climber or volunteer.
