What is my commitment if I become a Huntsman Hero for Ogden Marathon?

When you sign up as a Huntsman Hero for one of our partner events—including Ogden Marathon—you commit to fundraising either $250 (5K and 12K distances) or $500 (Half Marathon, Full Marathon, or per Marathon Relay participant) for Huntsman Cancer Institute to participate in the event. Your fundraising needs to be completed prior to event day. Need help or have fundraising questions? Email Jen Murano at [email protected]

Can I switch event distances after registering?

Yes. Contact Jen Murano ([email protected]) for instructions on how to do this through the Huntsman Heroes team and the Ogden Marathon event.

NOTE: As partners with Ogden Marathon, we follow its timelines and guidelines for event registration, transfers, and distance changes.

What is the VIP party after the race?

The VIP party is a celebration for YOU! As a thank-you for fundraising, after you complete your event, we provide a gathering place with food, cold drinks, and massages! The Huntsman Heroes VIP tent is generally located near the finish line at your event.

Are there any volunteer opportunities with Huntsman Heroes for Ogden Marathon?

Yes! If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering, please reach out to us at [email protected].

Where does the money go?

One hundred percent of all funds raised accelerate groundbreaking cancer research Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City. By funding efforts to better understand the beginnings of cancer and more effectively treat cancer, you help relieve suffering and improve the quality of life for cancer patients, survivors, and their families. Cancer patients, caregivers, and donors are encouraged to come together in a myriad of ways to fight cancer individually and collectively through fundraising programs like Huntsman Heroes.

Participants and donors even have the opportunity to restrict their funds to support research for a specific type of cancer.

Can I designate my fundraising toward a specific type of cancer?

You can! During the registration process, you can choose to designate your funds toward a specific cancer type, or you can leave it as "Area of Greatest Need," and the funds will be dispersed accordingly.

NOTE: If you join a team that already has a designation in place, your funds raised will go toward that designation.

What are the incentive items for fundraising?

The best incentive is getting the world closer to a cancer-free future. To add a little more fun to the mix, check out these incentives:

  • Raise $500 and receive a Huntsman Heroes team jersey and an invite to our end-of-year celebration
  • Raise $1,000 and receive a Huntsman Heroes team jacket or cycling bibs

Are gifts tax deductible when made through my fundraising page?

Yes. Huntsman Cancer Foundation is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. All gifts made through your individual or team fundraising page, or sent directly to Huntsman Cancer Foundation on your behalf, are tax deductible. Donors will receive an emailed or mailed receipt at the time of their gift.

Gifts made through a third-party donation platform (example: using Facebook's fundraising platform instead of sharing your official Huntsman Cancer Foundation fundraising page) are unable to be receipted by the foundation.

Can donations be mailed to Huntsman Cancer Foundation and still be credited to my fundraising page?

Yes! Checks can be mailed to our office, where our events team will add them to your fundraising page. Checks should be written to Huntsman Cancer Foundation, with your name and event written in the memo line or on an attached note.
