Huntsman Cancer Institute's mission is to understand cancer from its beginnings, to use that knowledge in the creation and improvement of cancer treatments, to relieve the suffering of cancer patients, and to provide education about cancer risk, prevention, and care.
Huntsman Cancer Institute at the University of Utah is a nationally recognized research center and treatment hospital in Salt Lake City. We serve patients with all types of cancer, who come from throughout the Mountain West, including Utah and parts of Idaho, Montana, Nevada, and Wyoming.

Welcome to the Medical Students of Huntsman Heroes Fundraising Page!
We’ve formed a Huntsman Heroes team of medical students to ride in Little Red Riding Hood 2026—Ride like a Pirate: Strong and Free, raising funds in support of breast and gynecologic cancer research at Huntsman Cancer Institute. As medical students training in Salt Lake City, many of us learn in the same health system that cares for patients at Huntsman Cancer Institute, and we are inspired daily by the impact that research-driven, patient-centered care can have on lives.
Each year, more than 2 million people in the United States—children and adults—are diagnosed with cancer. For patients and families, this diagnosis brings uncertainty, fear, and enormous challenges. Through this ride, we aim to contribute not only our miles, but our commitment to advancing the science and care that improve outcomes and quality of life for those affected by cancer.
Your donation supports more than research alone. It fuels discoveries that lead to better treatments, supports patients and families through difficult moments, and helps translate scientific breakthroughs into real-world care.
