I have signed up for the Huntsman SportsFest again this year with the goal of raising $1500 for the Huntsman Cancer Institute. I'm getting a late start this year in fundraising, so hopefully you will be able to support this great research program within the next few weeks.
This year, it is anticipated that over 2 million new cancer cases will be diagnosed in the United States. By fundraising and participating in this event, we can, with your support, make a significant impact toward our shared vision of a future free from cancer.
I plan to ride the 80 mile bicycle ride again this year on June 13, but may have to drop back to the 60 mile ride depending on how my ride in South Dakota the week before goes. I'm riding with the Plasma Cell Cure Crew, a team lead by my doctor in researching blood cancers. I cycled 4400 miles last year and by riding as much as I have, I seem to be keeping my Smoldering Multiple Myeloma stable, eight years since diagnosis. As a volunteer in the Art to Go program at Huntsman, I see weekly what lifesaving research and care can accomplish.
