About Huntsman Cancer Institute

Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) is a leader in the study of cancer genetics and its researchers have discovered more inherited cancer genes than any other cancer center in the world. Genes responsible for breast and ovarian cancer, colon cancer, head and neck cancer, and melanoma were identified here.

All cancer treatments used today began with research. Learn more about research taking place at HCI by visiting huntsmancancer.org.

The Generation to End Cancer™

To whom it may concern,

I hope this message finds you well. As a proud member of Sigma Chi at Baylor University, I wanted to reach out and share with you a cause that means a great deal to us: raising funds for the Huntsman Cancer Research Institute (HCI), a nationally recognized leader in cancer research and treatment.

At Sigma Chi, we are passionate about philanthropy, and our commitment to HCI is at the core of our efforts. As an international organization, we have worked together to raise over $20 million dedicated to supporting the lifesaving work & innovative research being done at HCI. HCI’s work has saved countless lives, and with your support, we can continue to make strides in the fight against cancer. Together, we are determined to be “The Generation to End Cancer”.

Our cause has become even more personal over the years. In July 2021, Wayne Tucker, a Baylor alumnus and Sigma Chi brother, lost his battle with cancer. Wayne’s contributions to our chapter were immeasurable, and it is in his honor that we dedicate our efforts to raise money for HCI—a cause he wholeheartedly believed in. We all know someone who has been touched by cancer, and it is our collective obligation to support the research that will one day bring an end to this disease.

This past year has been truly exceptional for our chapter. We were honored as Baylor University’s “Organization of the Year,” selected from over 400 student-led organizations. Through our Derby Days event and various fundraising efforts, we raised over $40,000 for HCI, bringing our total donations to more than $200,000 over the past four years. This year, our goal is to raise $100,000, and we would be grateful for your support in helping us achieve this milestone. For further details on our chapter’s achievements, please refer to the attached document.

If you feel moved by our cause and are in a position to contribute, we would be immensely grateful for your support. Every dollar brings us one step closer to our goal and helps to fund groundbreaking research that could save lives—perhaps even the life of someone dear to you.

Thank you for considering a donation, and for supporting our mission to make a difference in the fight against cancer. Your generosity means the world to us.
